CJ used to be a BOHICA. Now she's an ex-bohica (aka xbohica). Family, sewing, public broadcasting (NPR and PBS), travel, marketing and other stuff. Caille is in high school and a natural-born seamstress and crafter. She started learning to sew from her grandmama, CJ, at the age of 8. Now Caille sews for theatre groups, her teachers and her friends. She loves national parks, trees and gardens.

WWAGD?
A friend sent me a link to a fabric shopping bag for sale online. It had a picture of Al Gore and the letters WWAGD at the top. Well, what would Al Gore do? And what would Al Gore do if he could sew? He'd make nifty fabric grocery bags, of course! I made these from a free pattern at The Creative Thimble website. I had to use a little more fabric than they indicated to be able to make the straps from fabric (instead of webbing), because after pre-wash and -dry, my fabrics shrunk quite a bit. Can't wait to try them out at H-E-B. As usual, click to enlarge photos.

These are great! I can't wait to hear how the HEB folks handle something other than paper or plastic. Keep us posted on that first shopping trip!
ReplyDeleteInstead of the checker bagging me, there were suddenly three baggers bagging my groceries. One guy says "O-o-o-ooo, POLKA DOTS!" I just looked at him and he goes "I'm sorry ma'am, I have ADD," and smiled. The baggers like my bags. :-)
